That’s why we offer a carefully structured guarantee system—designed to reflect the nature of each plant type and ensure you have peace of mind when planting. Our guarantees span four levels, each tailored to the specific category of plant, helping you understand exactly what’s covered and for how long.

Level 1: Bare Rooted and Rootballed Plant Guarantee

Coverage for One Growing Season

This guarantee applies to bare rooted and rootballed plants, which are typically available for planting between November and March.

We guarantee the success of these plants for one full growing season, provided they have been given reasonable care and planted in suitable conditions.

If you experience any issues or failures, you must inform us by 1st June following the autumn/winter planting season. Claims submitted after this date may not be eligible for replacement or credit.

Level 1: Bare Rooted and Rootballed Plant Guarantee

Level 2: Hardy Plant Guarantee

3 months from the date of purchase

This guarantee applies to hardy plants, including trees, roses, shrubs, and soft fruit.

We guarantee these plants for a period of 3 months from the date of purchase, as long as they have been given reasonable care and planted in appropriate conditions.

Should any issues arise within this timeframe, please contact us with proof of purchase and photo evidence so we can arrange a suitable replacement or credit.

Level 2: Hardy Plant Guarantee

Level 3: Half Hardy Plant Guarantee

Coverage for 1 Month from Purchase

This guarantee covers half hardy plants, such as herbaceous perennials and alpines.

These plants are guaranteed for 1 month from the date of purchase, assuming they have been properly cared for and planted in suitable conditions.

If any problems occur within this period, please get in touch with proof of purchase and photo evidence so we can assess and, where appropriate, offer a replacement or credit.

Level 3: Half Hardy Plant Guarantee

Level 4: Tender (Non-Hardy) Plant Policy

Not Covered Under Guarantee

This category includes annual bedding plants, herbs, and vegetable plants. Due to their short-lived and delicate nature, these plants are not covered under our guarantee.

However, we take great care to ensure that every plant leaves our nursery healthy, well-rooted, and ready to thrive. Once plants leave our care, their success depends on the conditions they are placed in and the aftercare they receive.

Level 4: Tender (Non-Hardy) Plant Policy

Plant Aftercare and Responsibility

All Simpson’s plants are sold with care instructions on the label, including details about positioning, soil type, watering needs, and sunlight requirements. These must be followed closely to ensure successful establishment.

Plants are living organisms and can respond unpredictably to environmental conditions. Once a plant leaves the nursery, ongoing care becomes the responsibility of the customer.


If a plant begins to show signs of stress or disease, please notify us as soon as possible—ideally with a clear photograph. We will be happy to advise on a course of action to support its recovery.

In the rare event of total plant failure, and provided all relevant criteria have been met, we will offer a replacement, refund, or credit upon receipt of the original plant (or clear photographic evidence) and proof of purchase.

Extreme climatic conditions, viruses, and diseases could invalidate this guarantee.

Special Offer & Reduced Items

Exclusions from Guarantee

Please note that any items sold at a reduced price or marked as Special Offer are excluded from our guarantee. These products are often discounted due to seasonal clearance, cosmetic imperfections, or limited availability, and are therefore sold as seen.

While we still take care to ensure their health at the point of sale, we are unable to offer replacements, refunds, or credits for these items once purchased.
