A must in the cottage garden, Lupins’ stately spikes of colour produced in early summer are truly stunning and the perennial varieties will come back year after year.
For the very best colour try growing ‘Russell Mixed’ from seed.
Seeds should be sown undercover between February and July and in the Autumn for annual varieties. Sow into tray of Surestart Seed & Cutting Compost and keep at around 10-15c (50-60f). Pot on small plants once established and gradually acclimatise to outside conditions over 2-3 weeks. Plant out from early summer onwards. Early sowings will flower the same year whereas sowings made later will flower for the first time the following summer in June and July.
